Discerning visitors will enjoy discovering Vanuatu's treasures aboard one of the superyachts available in the area, while indulging in the luxurious comfort, serviced by an attentive crew. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, luxurious and combined with adventure, a Vanuatu yacht charter vacation might be the right choice for you. To tickle your senses and to get you inspired, we have put together an example of an itinerary with some of the popular destinations in Vanuatu.
Embark on the trip of your lifetime from Efate and get ready to sail through the paradise. Efate is considered the main island of Vanuatu with Port Vila, the capital city of Vanuatu, being located here. The island is the main metropolitan and tourism centre, with a rugged coastline and a green countryside. It is adorned with waterfalls, hidden sandy beaches and picturesque lagoons.
Enjoy the selection of refreshing welcome nibbles and cocktails prepared by your crew, relax on board while you get familiar with the boat. Spend a few hours strolling the local fruit and vegetable markets or get yourself your first souvenir at the duty-free Port Vila. Following a delicious lunch prepared by your Chef with the freshest local ingredients, sail to the nearby retreat of Havannah Harbor for an afternoon of water fun, snorkelling, diving or fishing activities. Return to your yacht and, after an al fresco gourmet dinner, relax with your family and friends under the stars.
Wake up surrounded by Vanuatu's natural beauty and enjoy a fabulous breakfast either al fresco on the aft deck or if you wish, served directly to your stateroom while you get ready for the day's adventures. Today, you will be taken to the Melanesian island of Tanna, renowned for the huge bay an trees, hot pools, flying foxes and amazing cultural heritage. If you are the adventurous type, you might like to try boarding down the slopes of the Yasur Volcano. Your trip to the volcano will continue after sunset, when you will be guided to the crater's edge to witness a mesmerising display of fireworks put on by mother Nature.
This morning your yacht will depart early, heading towards the island of Epi. Boasting stunning white or black sand beaches and white sandy coves, Epi is a paradise island well worth a visit. It has numerous inland lakes and rugged terrain with lush rain forests. It is a great place for fishing enthusiasts or short day trips to see the wild pigs and native birds. The island's coastal area is covered with coconut plantation thanks to the land's fertility.
Visit the 'Black Magic Island' of Ambrym and witness the ancients customs and traditional dances. The most amazing 'kastom' dance in Ambrym is the Rom dance, where huge covertly cloaked masked 'spirits' move to the passionate beat of the tam tam. You can buy beautiful sculptured tam-tams, wooden carvings or black-fern masks here. If you are into more active adventures, you might like to hike to one of the active volcanos with moon-like characteristics.
Next day cruise to the island of Pentecost, renowned for its diving ritual. The ritual takes place every Saturday between April to June. Nagol or N'gol is where local men and boys jump from a 20 to 30 metre high man-made tower with only a vine attached to their legs. This ritual has also inspired the world-renowned Kiwi AJ Hackett, who invented today's popular adrenalin activity - the Bungee Jumping. Seeing N'gol is a truly unique and unforgettable experience, accompanied by a vibrant dance and stomping feet. Spend the evening enjoying a lovely candle-lit dinner aboard the vessel, looking back at the amazing day of adventures. Get ready to explore the Maewo island the next day.
Maewo island is characterised by a rugged, 56-kilometre long stretch of a land. This island has some of the most amazing waterfalls of Vanuatu and boasts amazing black sand beaches. It is renowned for the magic sorcerers and secret traditional dances, which, if danced by men are forbidden to women and vice versa. Enjoy the day birdwatching, swimming or simply sunbathing. Get ready to visit the largest island of Vanuatu - Espiritu Santo the next day.
Espirito Santu is the largest of Vanuatu's islands, offering pristine white sand beaches and hidden caves. The island is famous for its diving and snorkelling sites as well as great fishing. Spend the entire day, or a few days, engaging in various activities, including deep sea fishing or snorkelling. The stunning Champagne Beach is perfect for surfing and other in-water fun activities with your family, kids or friends. For diving enthusiasts we recommend the wreck of the SS President Coolidge or the Million Dollar Point. Horseback riding through cattle and coconut plantation is also highly recommended. Spend the early evening aboard the yacht while cruising to the private island of Ratua where you can enjoy a fantastic evening swim or a refreshing cocktail as the sun sets down over the horizon. Continue your Espirito Santu adventures the next day, concluding this unforgettable vacation relaxed and full of memories to last a lifetime.
