Friendly Beach is located 6km away from Mount Yasur volcano right on the quiet secluded black sand beach of Lowelkas Cove - one of the most remote coasts of Tanna - where there are no shops, no internet, and no electricity other than generator power.

To get to Friendly Beach, it is about one and a half hours by 4WD across the rugged mountain chain, through the jungle villages, right across the middle of Tanna and you arrive at the property close to all the sights and sounds of real Tanna including the hot mineral springs, custom dancing, Port Resolution and the Jon Frum village.

You can just relax, knowing everything you came to see and experience is only a stone’s throw away. You'll feel like the only person in the world as you stand on the black sand beach and swim in the clear waters of a private sandy cove.

Three contemporary environmentally friendly fares are able to accommodate up to four guests, and each face a beautiful sweeping black sand beach perfect for both swimming and snorkelling. The architect designed fares are made to incorporate and feature spectacular local materials including beautiful local timbers, coral, stone, woven bamboo, pandanas matting and coconut and natangora roofing.

Each fare has a magnificent coral floor ensuite with large shower, and twin vanity basinsand a queen bed with mosquito netting, double day bed and veranda with hammock. An additional single bed can be installed in the fare when required.

Electricity is powered by generator and is available from dusk until approximately 10:00pm. Guests need to be aware there are no TV, no internet and no international roaming for phones.

The Friendly Beach restaurant & bar features a set menu exclusively for guests, using mostly locally sourced produce including seasonal fresh fruit, vegetables, fish and if lucky lobster.

Friendly Beach is a co-operative eco-resort operating with the support from three local communities, Lounasunan, Lopali and Louno on the island of Tanna. Employees are sourced from the same villages and a percentage of all accommodation income goes back to the custom owners on whose land this resort was originally developed. The operation of Friendly Beach offers a special and genuine Melanesian experience in a beautiful environment and promotes sustainable tourism benefiting the people of remote Tanna.
